  1. The Screening Interview

Some tips for maintaining confidence during screening interviews:
·                     Highlight your accomplishments and qualifications.
·                     Get into the straightforward groove. Personality is not as important to the screener as verifying your qualifications. Answer questions directly and succinctly. Save your winning personality for the person making hiring decisions!

Etiquette around fellow interviewees.

This is probably one of the most ignored areas of an interview and trust me it will not even arouse your interest until I tell you a true life experience. After my university studies back in the days, I went to an interview in Garden Square along Westland Road and innocently I did not know what to anticipate. We were then directed into some room that seemed like a meeting/ conference area. All of us looked at each other without knowing what to do. What do you expect from around fifteen very nervous interviewees? Silence engulfed the air as we went through what we could say in the interview room in silence. For about ten minutes no one spoke to the other, until one noisy guy started talking to the neighbor and engaging others in a conversation around the EPL (English Premier League). That is where it all began and after around one hour, we noticed nobody had been called in for the formal questioning.

Interview blunders you should never do

Ever come out of an interview and for sure knew that you did not make it? Have you ever stepped forward to go into the interview room and you feel jittery? Do your hands sweat during an interview? Do you feel a little fever and start sweating during and before an interview? If the answers to these questions are affirmative or even one of them is affirmative, then there is something you have always forgotten. Before, during and after an interview there are basics that should guide you in toeing the line while others make blunders.

We have taken time to select a few things, mistakes and errors that an interviewee can easily make without noticing and if you don’t land a job, you end up blaming other factors. These mistakes are caused by negligence and be careful not to fall victim. They are:

Attacking or defending …..Which way in an interview

There is always a concern about what stunt you should pull in an interview especially when employing your playing tactics. In an interview, trust me, there are only three options:
  1. ATTACK: This may be a dangerous tactic because it means you are simply controlling the interview. This is a method where you go out and out without boundaries. You will be holding the key to the interview and the steering wheel is all yours. Be careful though with this style, some interviewers detest it grossly. You may appear in control but if you take it further and without any prior experience then you may take the conversation a stray.
